ConfluxCity Brewing Company is an independently owned microbrewery in the heart of downtown Portland, Michigan where the Grand and Looking Glass Rivers meet.
With a rotating list of beer, wine, cider and seltzers all made in-house, there is something for everyone to be excited about. The wide selection that is ever-changing is sure to keep you coming back again and again. The eclectic food menu features delicious items from our Smoke Shack, including: pulled pork, chicken, smoked burgers, ribs, wings, tacos, nachos, and more. These unique BBQ dishes, with flavors like you’ve never tasted before, are sure to leave your belly happy.
ConfluxCity has an atmosphere that was intentionally created to be very inviting and friendly. The wood paneled walls – provided by the owners’ family farms – and personal decor touches create a warm and cozy space. The owners, Jim and Kiley Hilligan, are always around whether it be in a work capacity or enjoying the fruits of their labor. Their vision was to create a community environment where folks gather with old and new friends over a fine craft beverage and delectable meal.
Jim’s career as a brewer started in the basement of their Virginia home, and that hobby quickly grew into a passion. His enthusiasm for brewing then became a dream to open a microbrewery in his hometown of Portland, MI. With a background in construction, Jim—along with the help of Kiley, other family, and many friends—was able to build the beautiful brewery enjoyed today. Kiley’s background in finance and customer service has aided in the business operations which are ever changing and growing. The rest of the CBC staff are from different backgrounds, but the most important thing is that they will make you feel like family when you visit.
If you plan to make a trip to ConfluxCity, be sure to build in some extra time to enjoy the 10 mile river trail right outside our door, the many parks – including one across the street – or the rivers themselves. We love finishing an outdoor exploration with a tasty pint. Portland is a beautiful town and we are honored to share our passion here.
